In several years of testing in regular intervals by two independent organisations, ESET's software has achieved better results than any other competing product.
 
Two independent testing organisations, Virus Bulletin and AV-Comparatives.org, both members of the AMTSO (Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization, which ensures professional standards and objectivity in testing methods), have been systematically testing antivirus products on various platforms in regular intervals for a number of years, against hundreds of thousands of virus samples.
AV-Comparatives have tested 16 antivirus products in February, May, August and November, and ESET NOD32 Antivirus was the only product to receive the highest Advanced+ rating in all the tests. Named "Best Antivirus Product" of 2006 and 2007, ESET has earned most Advanced+ ratings from AV-Comparatives since 2004, more than twice as many as any other vendor.
Virus Bulletin have been regularly testing antivirus products every couple of months since 1998. Their latest December test was on the new Windows 7 platform and ESET passed with flying colours once again, earning its 59th VB100 award. Since May 1998 ESET has not missed a single in-the-wild virus in Virus Bulletin's tests, thus earning more VB100 awards than any competing product.
Having the lightest system footprint and fastest scanning speeds would not amount to much if ESET's detection of malware didn't match up, but the reliability with which it has been regularly receiving best scores in detection tests, over a variety of platforms and over a long period of time, speaks volumes about the overall quality of the product.
